Luke hesitated. As Charley had
outlined the job, Luke noted there was something shifty in his look and the
manner of the nervous tapping of his fingers on the tabletop. He felt Tex’s
stare bore into him. The man sat still as a statue, leaning on the table, his
arms folded, while he waited for Luke’s answer. Luke didn’t like the idea of
being beholding to the two for a job. Still, with his funds dwindling, the
prospect of work appealed to Luke. “Maybe. Who will we be working for?”
