Saturday Snippet: I Hate to Ask This of You

The following snippet is taken from

A Lawyer for Linton

Mail-Order Mama Book 8

... I hate to ask this of you, especially since I know you are studying for the bar exam…” He rubbed his hand from his nose down across his mouth. “Is there any way you could do some of your reading outside where you can keep an eye on the girls? I’ll get some paper for them and tell them to either play quietly in the yard or draw. I already took them to lunch at the café, so they shouldn’t be hungry.”

“All right.” Samantha hoped her reluctance didn’t bleed into her voice as she eyed him warily. She enjoyed being with the girls but did not want to fail the exam because she spent her time with them instead of studying. “If you can get the picnic quilt, I’ll gather my book and papers.”

“Thank you.” The sound of relief in his voice, Linton started toward the kitchen where the quilt was kept in the pantry. He abruptly stopped and turned to Samantha once more. “Also, that book you loaned me on Michigan case law? It’s still on my desk in back. Do you mind if I take it with me? There’s something I wish to review before we officially get started.”

“Certainly.” Samantha’s smile was genuine. With the help she received by borrowing Linton’s books, she felt gratified that one of hers might prove helpful to his case, which sounded like it involved the logging industry.

look forward to sharing A Bride for Quentin. Its main character, Quentin Thompson, a telegraph operator, is a minor character in some of my Sweethearts of Jubilee Springs books. After considering the theme of Mistaken Identity Mail Order Brides, I decided this story would be perfect for this series, too.

This book is scheduled for release on June 25th. Please CLICK HERE to find the book description and preorder purchase link for A Bride for Quentin.
